Right-wing governors celebrate action in Venezuela – 01/03/2026 – Politics

The action of the Venezuelan government this Saturday (3), with the , was celebrated in Brazil by right-wing governors, such as the presidential candidates (PSD), Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil) and Romeu Zema (Novo).

On a social network, the governor of , Ratinho Junior, stated that the population of the neighboring country “had been oppressed for decades by undemocratic tyrants” and congratulated “the brilliant decision to free the people of Venezuela.”

“Long live freedom! Long live democracy! Long live Venezuela!”, wrote the man from Paraná, who has already expressed his willingness to run for Planalto in October, although the PSD has not yet decided whether or not it will launch its own candidate.

Another PSD governor who is interested in the Presidency of the Republic, (Rio Grande do Sul) expressed himself differently in relation to his co-religionist.

Leite said that “Maduro’s dictatorial regime is unacceptable”, but condemned the violence used by the US and stated that he is concerned “about the escalation of tension in our region”.

“Maduro’s dictatorial regime violates human rights, suffocates freedoms and imposes suffering on the Venezuelan people. However, the violence exercised by a foreign nation against another sovereign nation, disregarding the basic principles of international law, especially non-intervention, is equally unacceptable,” wrote Leite.

“Diplomatic principles must prevail, with dialogue and respect for the sovereignty of nations to resolve conflicts. Our Latin America needs peace and cooperation, not armed interventions. My solidarity with the Venezuelan people at this difficult time”, continued Leite.

From the right-wing camp, the governor of Goiás, stated that “this January 3rd will go down in history as the day of liberation of the Venezuelan people, oppressed for more than 20 years by the Chavista narco-dictatorship”. “May democracy, freedom and prosperity be established in the country,” said Caiado.

The governor of Minas Gerais, said he hopes that Maduro’s fall “will help the Venezuelan people finally find peace, stability and the path to development.”

“Chavismo isolated Venezuela from the world, destroyed the economy, expelled millions from the country itself and showed the tragic effects of authoritarian regimes. May Venezuela be able to open up again, with FREEDOM, RESPONSIBILITY, DEMOCRACY and real OPPORTUNITIES for its population to rebuild its own history”, stated the Minas Gerais chief.

Another presidential candidate, the governor of São Paulo, (Republicans) praised the action, criticized Maduro and cited the left’s chance of defeat in the Brazilian elections in October.

“A dictatorship does not fall overnight. It corrodes institutions from within, little by little, and the population is always the one who pays the highest price. May the arrest of dictator Maduro be the first step on the path to freedom for Venezuela.”

(PL), another right-wing governor who celebrated the episode, wrote “the people of Venezuela have reason to celebrate President Trump’s action”, as they “have freed themselves from tyranny”.

“Maduro is a dictator who violates human rights, persecutes and silences opponents. He does not respect democratic values, so dear to all of us! Freedom must be the greatest good guiding the actions of governments in Latin America. We must strengthen the fight against narco-terrorism that is ravaging the continent,” said Castro.
