Videos circulating online show explosions and columns of smoke recorded in the early hours of this Saturday (January 3, 2026)
The United States confirmed this Saturday (January 3, 2026) one against Venezuela. The president (Republican Party) claimed to have captured the Venezuelan leader, (PSUV, left), and the first lady, Cilia Flores. Both would have been removed from the country by air.
The Venezuelan vice president, (PSUV), declared that she does not know the whereabouts of Maduro and Flores and demanded proof of their lives from the US government. Furthermore, the Minister of Defense, speaking on national television, said that the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaria were targets of the offensive. No details have yet been provided about the operation or civilian casualties.
Explosions were recorded in several parts of the country, including the capital, Caracas, at around 2 am (3 am in Brasília). Images circulating on social media show burning vehicles and columns of smoke. Some of the videos were shared by the former president of Bolivia and the president of Colombia, (Colombia Humana).
