Christmas in Slovakia and the Czech Republic inherently includes fairy tales, which we turn on again and again every year, even though we know them by heart. One of those, without which many people cannot even imagine the holidays, is the fairy tale How the Princesses Wake. Actress Marie Horáková, now Míková, recalled filming for the website.
Míková played the main role in the fairy tale – Sleeping Beauty. She was only seventeen years old at the time of filming. How does he remember this time? “Wild youth, because then I was a princess who drives to the water, tries to play in a band and enjoys the theater very much. At seventeen, a person searches for himself, reads poems. The memories are still alive and beautiful!” she let herself be heard.
The fairy tale was directed by Václav Vorlíček. “Mr. director Vorlíček was an excellent, kind person, gentle. And the fact that he chose me already meant that he was going to like it, he knew what I was doing. Working with him was very pleasant. My Sleeping Beauty is not as action-packed as, for example, Cinderella. But she has an inner sense of humor, it is clear from those little scenes that she is such a girl. Mr. Vorlíček probably liked this, a combination of princessiness and some mischief“, she revealed.
She enjoyed filming. “It was a very pleasant filming, when there was a great atmosphere on the set. It’s great to play with such great actors.” the actress mentioned. The mood was always excellent. “I don’t know how it is now, but back then you just got into a taxi, you were already joking. Mr. Filipovský or Mr. Menšík, they were always joking. They were laughing in the taxi, in the make-up shop, at the dressing room, it was simply beautiful“, she continued.
Thanks to her vivaciousness, the actress earned the nickname Briketa from her acting colleagues. “I was calmly sitting on the stone in that beautiful princess dress. Then I got up and everyone from the staff shouted: “No, what is she doing there again!” she revealed about herself.
Jiří Sovák and Milena Dvorská played her parents in the fairy tale. “I had a warm relationship with Mrs. Dvorská, we often saw each other after that, and talked over coffee. Mr. Sovák was quite withdrawn, focused on work, no jokes. And with Mr. Hrušínský and Kraus, my fairytale suitors, it was wonderful. Especially Mr. Kraus, who has always been a great entertainer, we enjoyed it a lot,” she added.
