The Indonesian authorities have located this Sunday the remains of Fernando Martín, the father who disappeared in the shipwreck of a boat that occurred on December 26 in which he was traveling with his family.
This has been confirmed by both the Indonesian authorities and family sources, who learned of the location of the body in the early hours of this Sunday. The body of Fernando Martín, 44 years old and coach of Valencia CF Femenino B, has been found in the same area where the body of the other minor located, aged 12, was found last Monday, December 29.
“Based on the results of the identification process carried out by the Police and the Labuan Bajo Hospital, we can affirm that it is (…) Fernando Martín, 44 years old,” Fathur Rahman, an officer with the National Agency for Search and Rescue who coordinates the mission, said in a video.
The Indonesian authorities have agreed to extend the search for the two children who remain to be found for three more days, after having located the second body of the missing. Fernando’s wife, Andrea Ortuño, was found alive after the shipwreck, as was one of her daughters, who is already in Spain.
On December 29, the body of the 12-year-old daughter, also Andrea’s daughter, was found and three missing persons remained to be located: Fernando Martín – whose body was found this Sunday – and two other children, both boys: one the son of Andrea and the other of Fernando.
Rescue teams have found the second lifeless body in the place where search efforts are being carried out for the bodies of the missing Valencian family that suffered the shipwreck of a boat in the Komodo National Park, in Indonesia.
