Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that if US President Donald Trump attacked the Danish island of Greenland, it would mean the end of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) alliance.
“I believe that the American president should be taken seriously when he says he wants Greenland,” said Frederiksen in an interview with the Danish broadcaster TV2. “But I will also make it clear that if the US chooses to militarily attack another NATO country, then everything is over, including the organization,” he added.
The comments come amid ongoing concerns about the American president’s interest in acquiring Greenland, which is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark with strategic importance in the Arctic region.
