The film mixes drama and comedy by portraying the relationship between a father, Bob (Leonardo DiCaprio), and his daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti).
In the plot, Bob needs to rescue his daughter, kidnapped by an old enemy who resurfaces after 16 years. To do this, he, who lives a paranoid and isolated life with his daughter, is forced to face ghosts from the past and reunite old companions for a dangerous mission.
The cast is still made up of Sean Penn (“Of Boys and Wolves”), Benicio del Toro (“Sicario”), Regina Hall (“Scary”) and Teyana Taylor (“A Prince in New York 2”).
According to director Paul Thomas Anderson, the inspiration for creating the work came from his own family life — and that other people in situations similar to his can identify with.
In a press conference accompanied by CNN at the time of the feature film’s premiere, the director highlighted that “One Battle After Another” is, at the same time, a narrative about wounds and resilience and a gesture of trust in new generations — talking about cinema and life.
Also present at the press conference, Leonardo DiCaprio said that the film is their “Star Wars”.
“He created a unique world, in which you feel immersed. It’s so interesting, the characters are so human, and the story can be a true mirror for society, the world we live in. A lot of people will identify when they see the film, it’s about people trying to find a way in their lives in a world of extremes”, defined the star. “He created a ‘Star Wars’ universe in this film and I think people are going to have a lot of fun watching it,” he added.
