Trump’s threats have also led Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to urge the US to stop threatening to take over the region
Greenland Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen says US President Donald Trump must stop pressure to annex the autonomous Danish region in the Arctic.
“Enough! (…) No more pressure. No more insinuations. No more annexation fantasies. We are open to dialogue. We are open to discussions. But this must be done through the appropriate channels and in accordance with international law”, wrote the Greenlandic leader overnight on social media.
In an interview on Sunday with The Atlantic magazine, Donald Trump reaffirmed his desire to annex the autonomous territory of Greenland, citing reasons of “national security”.
reiterated the North American president.
The US military intervention in Venezuela on Saturday, which highlighted Donald Trump’s interest in the country’s vast oil resources, reignited fears about Greenland, coveted by the US president for its mineral resources and strategic location.
“COMING SOON”, the notice
But it was from Katie Miller that one of the most drastic warnings arrived. The wife of one of Trump’s top advisors and security advisor to the US administration, Stephen Miller, published last night on X a map of Greenland with the colors of the American flag, accompanied by the phrase “COMING SOON”.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen urged the US president to stop threatening to seize Greenland.
“I must say this very clearly: It is absolutely absurd to say that the United States needs to take control of Greenland. The United States has no right to annex any of the three countries of the Kingdom of Denmark,” Frederiksen said in a statement. “I therefore strongly urge the US to end threats against a historically close ally and against another country and people who have said very clearly that they are not for sale.”
