Czech wrestler Karlos Vémola was taken away by the police just a day before Christmas. In handcuffs he finished during a raid on his house in the village of Měchenice near Prague. V ten day he was supposed to enter the hospital for an operation related to acute inflammation of the jaw. The Prague court subsequently imposed a bond on the wrestler for fear of a possible escape. According to lawyer Vlastimil Rampula, his health problem persisted.
On Tuesday, December 30, he underwent surgery at the dental surgery department of the General Faculty Hospital in Prague, having completed pre-operative examinations the day before. According to current statements, he is still in bed. „Karlos is currently still hospitalized in the Pankrák Prison Polyclinic Hospital. His condition is stable and he is receiving all available care. He thanks everyone for the words of support he receives,” his media team wrote on Instagram.
In addition to 40-year-old Vémol, the police detained two other men, but one of them was supposed to be released. All three are accused of particularly serious organized crime related to drugs on an international scale. They face up to 18 years in prison.
For mixed martial arts (MMA) Vémol, this is not his first drug-related run-in with the law. In the past, he was already convicted of a drug offense in Britain, for which he spent several months in prison.
