Deposed president faces charges of narcoterrorism, importing cocaine into the US and weapons-related crimes
The deposed president of Venezuela (PSUV, left) left his prison in New York (USA) this Monday morning (5 January 2026) and was transported to a court in the North American city. It is scheduled for 12pm local time in New York (2pm in Brasília). The Venezuelan was part of the helicopter transport and was later transferred to a vehicle. He was accompanied by several agents. Upon exiting the helicopter, Maduro appeared to be limping. In addition to him, his wife, Cilia Flores, was also taken to court.
This Monday (January 5), the judge must deal with initial procedures, such as formal reading of the charges, the defendant’s rights and definition of custody. The measure comes 2 days after Maduro was captured by US forces, under the government of (Republican Party).
