SÃO PAULO, Jan 5 (Reuters) – The Secretary of Economic Reforms of the Ministry of Finance, Marcos Pinto, was dismissed from his position according to this Monday’s Official Gazette.
He had previously signaled his intention to leave the department, stating at the end of November that this would happen ‘soon’ and highlighting that he had a feeling of accomplishment.
‘The time is coming for me to return to the private sector and take care of my family’, he said at the time.

Pinto was responsible for drafting measures such as the expanded IR exemption; the Desenrola program, which promotes debt renegotiation; and Pé de Meia, which makes payments to students so that they remain in school.
