Nissan X-Trail hybrid will be launched in Brazil in 2026

The year 2026 will mark the end of a soap opera at Nissan: after years of expectation, studies and tests with prototypes running on national territory, it will be the launch of the X-Trail in Brazil. The medium SUV will mark the debut of first hybrid model from the Japanese brand in the country. This is a return, as the model was sold here in the 2000s. Before it, the

Known as Rogue in the United States, the Nissan X-Trail is in its fourth generation, launched internationally in 2021 and already visually updated in some markets. For Brazil, the model will be imported from Mexico and positioned in the medium SUV segment, where it will compete for space with Jeep Compass, Toyota Corolla Cross, Volkswagen Taos and new competitors arriving on the market from 2026 onwards.

The main difference of the national X-Trail will be the e-Power mechanical seta hybrid solution distinct from the most common in Brazil. It is a series hybrid system, in which the combustion engine does not drive the wheels. In this case, the 1.5 turbo gasoline engine, with three cylinders, acts exclusively as an energy generator to feed a small lithium-ion battery, with a capacity of 1.97 kWh.

The vehicle’s movement is entirely carried out by two electric motors, one on each axle, forming the electric all-wheel drive system called e-4orce. Together, the engines deliver 213 horsepower and 25.5 kgfm of torque. Unlike plug-in hybrids or pure electrics, the X-Trail e-Power does not travel long distances using only stored energy, as the battery has a strategic function and not extended autonomy. The proposal is offer an electric driving sensation with less weight and no need for external recharging.

In the international market, the performance of the X-Trail e-Power includes acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in around 7 seconds and consumption of close to 20 km/l with gasoline, numbers that serve as a reference for the Brazilian model. Nissan has already confirmed that, at least initially, the SUV will not have a flex system in Brazil.

Built on the CMF-CD platform of the Renault-Nissan alliance, the same used by the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, the X-Trail is compatible with traditional medium SUVs. It is approximately 4.68 meters long, has a wheelbase of 2.71 m and a trunk capacity of up to 575 liters in the hybrid version.

Inside, the finishing standard should follow that already seen in the Nissan Sentra, with soft materials, leather coverings and a focus on technology. The list of equipment includes a digital instrument panel, a multimedia center with wireless mirroring for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an induction cell phone charger and a complete package of driving assistance, such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistant.

The hybrid Nissan X-Trail is expected to reach Brazilian dealerships between the second half of 2026 and the beginning of 2027, with estimated prices in the range of R$250,000. With this, Nissan takes a relevant step in its electrification strategy in Brazil, after having sold (very successfully) the Leaf here.
