- Bratislava reacts to the current snowfall by deploying technology.
- Dispatch continuously monitors the situation and updates intervention plans as necessary.
- The services of the Bratislava self-governing region are also involved in all three regions.
- Maintenance priority is on the main routes and sections with high traffic load.
Due to the current weather in Bratislava, which also brings snowfall, the capital is taking precautionary measures in the streets of the city. Sprinklers with preventive sprinkles are in the field from 3:00 p.m. It informs about it the mayor of Bratislava Matúš Vallo on a social network.
“Forecasts vary, but even a small amount of snow combined with lower temperatures, below or just above zero, can cause major problems, as snow will remain on the roads or dangerous ice will form. Safety is paramount, so we take nothing for granted and take preventive measures.” states Vallo.
According to the mayor, dispatching is continuously monitoring the situation and will direct further interventions as necessary. The intervention plan will thus be continuously updated by the capital according to the development of the weather. It also affects the Bratislava Self-Governing Region (BSK), which ensures the passability of regional roads. Winter maintenance vehicles are in the field in all three districts, i.e. Pezinok, Malacky and Senec. He informs about it on the social network.
“They take into account the performance capacity and the prioritization of the road network. Each circuit has a clearly defined sequence of interventions according to the importance and traffic load of individual sections,” states the technical director of the BSK Road Administration, Martin Samek. Main roads, roads used by bus traffic, mountain sections and sections with the risk of drifts, snow tongues and icing are maintained as a priority.
