The 40 people, including a Portuguese woman, who died in the fire in a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana on New Year’s Eve, have all been identified, the police in the canton of Valais announced this Sunday. There are several teenagers among the fatal victims.

The Portuguese Government confirmed and lamented this Sunday the death of a Portuguese citizen in the tragic fire that left 40 people dead and more than a hundred injured on New Year’s Eve.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms and deeply regrets the death of the citizen of Portuguese nationality, Fany Pinheiro Magalhãeswho was missing following the tragedy that occurred in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Both the Swiss authorities and the Portuguese State have already offered their condolences to the family”, said the executive in a short statement.

Fany Magalhães, 22 years old, teacher and native of Santa Maria da Feira, had initially been reported missing.

The fatal victims are between 14 and 39 years old, 21 of them minors, according to official information. They are still identify six of the 119 injuredwhose identity the authorities have not yet been able to establish.

According to Swiss federal authorities, 35 injured, with extensive and severe burns, were transferred to hospitals in France, Belgium, Germany and Italy.

In Crans-Montana, hundreds of people attended a mass outside the crowded chapel of Saint Christopher of Crans, in one of the many tributes paid today to the victims of the fire in the bar, where they celebrated New Year’s Eve.
