The eternal fight for freedom of expression

It seems that the liberals are not suitable as allies against fascism. They want to fight both the right and the left. They see freedom of expression threatened, but are less afraid of the autocrats in power who use all legal means to ban books from libraries, take down LGBTIQ flags and ban gender-sensitive spelling. They see themselves threatened by a woke cancel culture, from which the right under Trump is now copying the ban, says Eric Frey in the STANDARD: The right is “imitating the methods of the cancel culture”. Frey leaves it open where there was supposed to be a woke government that was celebrated by the social media mob and took legal action against the excluded and marginalized. Ultimately, those who pay attention can be all sorts of people who are somehow left-wing, woke feminists of course, but also postcolonial theory, Antifa, formerly autonomous people. Jens Jessen also had in the Time explicitly called for a fight against both the right and the left after he commented on woke cancel culture and blamed the left for the rise of right-wing extremists.
