His incident took place in the small town of Pontllanfraith in Wales. Poppy discovered her mother unconscious in the bedroom in the evening. Just a few weeks before that, Leisha was in the hospital for surgery on her twisted intestine. Although she was soon allowed to go home, she began to feel ill and her legs and face swelled. Finally, this state resulted in her suddenly collapsing. However, she later found out that she had suffered septic shock.
When Poppy alerted the teacher, two school staff ran to their house where they found Leisha motionless on the floor, moved her to a stable position and called an ambulance. However, it turned out that her condition was much more serious than expected. A woman she needed a device to keep her body functions going, so they couldn’t fly her.
Ultimately, however, the health workers the young mother was taken to Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran, where it was found that in addition to septic shock, only 15% of one of her lungs was functioning. Doctors confirmed that Leisha needed extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to keep her circulation and breathing functioning. A young mother later she noted that she did not remember anything from this period.
Leisha in the end she woke up three weeks later, unable to move her body and having to undergo a tracheostomybecause of which she could not speak. According to her, the doctors initially claimed that due to necrosis, both of her legs will have to be amputated up to the knees. But the new prognosis indicated that he would lose only half of his feet.
