Trump pressures Mexico and offers troops against drug cartels: ‘Something needs to be done’

US President claims that criminal organizations are ‘very strong’ and says Washington will continue to demand action against trafficking on the border

The president of the , , said this Sunday (4) that “something needs to be done about” and that the drug cartels are “very strong and govern the country”, which is a direct threat to the United States.

Trump also stated, in a press conference aboard the presidential plane, that, in all the conversations he has with the president of Mexico, he offers to send American troops to combat organized crime. But, according to the American president, Sheinbaum is “afraid” of facing the cartels.

The American president did not detail whether there are concrete plans for military action in Mexico, but said that Washington will continue to press to contain drug trafficking and the activities of criminal organizations operating from the neighboring country.
