According to the American president, the objective of the operation in Venezuela is to recover the oil infrastructure, which requires full access to the country
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Sunday (4) that he spoke with the inaugurated president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, and warned that, if she does not cooperate, “she will have a worse fate than that of Nicolás Maduro”. Trump also reported that the dictator “did not resist capture” in the early hours of Saturday, 3, in Caracas.
According to the American president, the objective of the operation in Venezuela is to recover the oil infrastructure, which requires full access to the country. Trump claimed to have captured Maduro because the Venezuelan leader had sent “criminals, drug traffickers and asylum patients” to the United States.
“The operation in Venezuela was about peace in our hemisphere,” said the president, who said he had brought back the Monroe Doctrine (on guidelines for action in Latin America), “supposedly forgotten” by his predecessors.

Regarding international alliances, Trump declared that his actions in South America should not affect his relationship with the president of China, Xi Jinping, who criticized Maduro’s capture.
Trump also refuted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s claim that Ukraine carried out a drone attack on the presidential residence in Russia. Trump said he did not believe the version presented by Moscow and stated that he would be “very angry” if such an attack had actually occurred.
