According to Moncada, the events of January 3 constitute a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations, perpetrated by the US government, in particular the violation of the principle of sovereign equality of States, the absolute prohibition of the use or threat of the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State. He also said that the action led by the US president was a direct violation of international law.
“Disrespect for this norm not only affects Venezuela, but also sets an extremely dangerous precedent for all States represented in this assembly, regardless of their size, power or alliances,” said the Venezuelan ambassador.
