Bolsonaro complains about air conditioning noise in the PF – 01/05/2026 – Politics

The minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) asked the Federal Police for clarification after (PL)’s defense complained about the noise from the air conditioning in the room where he is being held.

Moraes asked the PF to respond within five days. Last Friday, the former president’s lawyers asked for measures to reduce noise from the equipment, which would compromise the former president’s rest and affect his health.

The defense states that the situation characterizes “disruption to the health and integrity of the prisoner” and that the noise “generates an environment incompatible with the minimum rest necessary” to maintain Bolsonaro’s physical and psychological conditions.

The lawyers asked Moraes to determine the PF measures to correct the noise and suggest changing the location of the air conditioning or acoustic insulation in the cell.

Sentenced to 27 years and three months in prison for an attempted coup d’état, Bolsonaro went to the PF Superintendency in Brasília in November, when he damaged his electronic ankle bracelet and was removed from home care.

The room he occupies, on the ground floor of the superintendency, has a bed, a private bathroom and a work desk. It also has a television and minibar, in addition to air conditioning.

The space is reserved for authorities and other public figures, such as the national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, arrested in 2024 during a PF operation into the coup plot.

The senator (MS), the governor of the Federal District and the former judge have also been housed in the superintendence.

Bolsonaro returned to the PF on January 1st, after spending eight days in the hospital to treat a groin hernia and hiccups, both conditions resulting from a stab wound he received during the 2018 election campaign.

On the same date, the former president’s defense of house arrest after discharge.

In his decision, Moraes said that “unlike what was alleged by the defense, there was no worsening of Jair Messias Bolsonaro’s health situation, but, rather, a clinical picture of improvement in the discomfort he was feeling, after carrying out the elective surgeries, as pointed out in his own doctors’ report”.

After the three surgeries to treat hiccups, doctors concluded that Bolsonaro had improved, but that he would need to continue undergoing non-invasive treatments to try to control this problem.
