The Public Ministry (MP) reported that Brazilian Lucinete Freitas, aged 55, was killed by her boss, who is also Brazilian, after being attacked in the head with a cement block. The crime took place on December 5th last year, but the body of the Brazilian woman, who works as a maid and nanny for the suspect’s son, was only found on December 18th, in Amadora, in the metropolitan region of Lisbon.

The information from the MP was released this Monday, 5th. The person being investigated for the crime, a 43-year-old woman, whose name was not disclosed, is in preventive custody. Her arrest occurred outside the arrest period. She is being investigated for the crimes of qualified homicide, desecration of a corpse, possession of a prohibited weapon and computer forgery. The Brazilian woman’s boss underwent her first judicial interrogation on December 20, according to the Portuguese MP. The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Amadora police.

According to the Portuguese MP, the relationship between the victim and her boss was marked by conflicts. The agency, however, did not detail the reason for the disagreements between them. According to the investigation, on December 5, the boss used the pretext of taking the victim home, but took her to an isolated location. The employee was violently attacked in the head with a cement block, causing injuries that led to her death, the MP reported.

“There is also evidence that, after confirming that the victim was dead, the person being investigated placed rubble on the body, in order to cover it, and left the scene,” stated the agency. Furthermore, the MP pointed out that the person being investigated also used the victim’s cell phone to impersonate her and send messages in which she said she had gone to the Algarve with a friend. According to the agency, the boss did this in an attempt to postpone the registration of the disappearance.

Lucinete was born in Aracobaia, in the interior of Ceará. She lived alone in Amadora and had plans to take her husband and son to live in the European country as well.
