From the first weekend of January, the Vyšné Nemecké road border crossing can also be used by travelers who cross it on foot or by bicycle. Lucia Verchovodková, Director of the Department of Communication and Organization of the Financial Directorate of the Slovak Republic, confirmed this for TASR.
- Since January, the Vyšné Nemecké border crossing is also available for pedestrians and cyclists.
- On the Slovak side, arrangements were made for customs control on foot.
- Checks are carried out temporarily at the workplace for bus transport.
- Reconstruction of the workplace is planned for better traffic conditions.
- The changes are based on the agreement between Slovakia and Ukraine.
“On the Slovak side of the Vyšné Nemecké – Uzhhorod border crossing, necessary adjustments were made for the comfort of customs control and a corridor was prepared for the entry of pedestrians into our territory,” she stated.
Customs control of pedestrian passengers takes place at the workplace “hall”, where customs control of bus passengers is carried out. According to her, this is a temporary solution, as the Slovak side is planning a large-scale reconstruction of the “passenger transport” workplace, which includes the construction of a new corridor for pedestrians and cyclists.
“We are accommodating the public in the case of facilitating border crossing and expanding the services provided by the Slovak and Ukrainian border authorities in accordance with the international agreement concluded between the governments of the Slovak Republic and Ukraine,” added Verchovodková.
