Copper mines report problems, prices at record high


London – Fear of shortages is driving the price of copper to a new record high. On the London Metal Exchange, the price of copper climbed by up to 2.8 percent to $13,356 per ton. The day before, the important industrial metal had surpassed the $13,000 mark for the first time. Fresh disruptions at mines and fears of regional dislocations as a result of U.S. tariffs supported the market, traders said.
