Anyone who has children knows that it is quite difficult to find recipes that the whole family will like – both the older and the youngest members. Fortunately, some recipes work perfectly almost every time. My discovery is that they are delicious cinnamon rolls.
They are very easy to make, and the wonderful aroma quickly spreads throughout the house. Yeast dough that melts in your mouth accompanied by an insanely delicious filling is one of my favorite sweet snacks.
Cake:
- 600 g of wheat flour,
- 300 ml of milk,
- 100 g of butter,
- 50 g sugar,
- 1 egg,
- 1 package of instant yeast,
- 1 teaspoon of salt.
Filling:
- 150 g of brown sugar,
- 50 g of butter,
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon,
- 1 pinch of salt.
Prepare the dough. In the bowl of a mixer, mix 2 cups of flour with sugar, yeast and salt at low speed.
Heat the milk and butter in a pot until the fat is completely melted and the mixture is just warm. Pour it into the flour and add the egg. Beat everything on low speed until completely combined. Gradually increase the speed and continue mixing for 2 minutes.
After two minutes, start mixing the dough with a dough hook, adding the remaining flour. Knead the mixture at low speed until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Then increase the mixer speed and knead the mass until it becomes smooth and elastic, for about 10 minutes.
Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel or cling film. Set aside in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in volume.
Prepare the filling. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon and salt. Mix. Soften the butter slightly.
Assemble the buns. Place the dough on a floured surface. Roll them out with a rolling pin into a rectangle measuring 30×45 cm. Using your hands or a silicone spatula, spread the butter over the entire surface. Sprinkle the top with the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
Roll the dough into a roulade along the long side. Press the joint firmly. Cut them into pieces about 4 cm thick with a sharp knife. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and cover with a kitchen cloth for about 2 hours, until they double in volume.
Place the cinnamon rolls in an oven preheated to 175 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes, until nicely browned. After removing them from the oven, place them on a rack and leave to cool for about 15 minutes.
Serve the buns warm or after they have cooled completely.
