In the name of Trump, the right is rushing in again – 01/05/2026 – Dora Kramer

It is still too early to know how things will unfold in , and for this reason it is possible to say that the Brazilian right has rushed into enthusiasm for the capture of by the government of .

These people had already taken it into their heads when celebrating, but they did not learn a basic lesson from the episode: foreign interference outside of diplomacy, justice and/or political negotiation is reprehensible and generates unpredictable consequences, often very bad for their perpetrators.

Scenarios apparently favorable to the speeches of an ideological group change depending on the circumstances. One of them has to do with Trump’s idea of providing Venezuela with a “safe, adequate and sensible” transition. We have seen disasters resulting from interventions based on similar claims.

In their eagerness to restore privileged interlocutory relations with the USA and support themselves in the defense of democracy, the group of governor-candidates missed the opportunity to pay tribute to prudence and legality.

(SP), (GO), (MG) and (PR) looked at the overthrow of the dictator and ignored the violations of the would-be emperor. They thus contradict their own electoral strategy of showing themselves to be moderately civilized right-wing oppositionists.

They run the risk of biting their respective tongues if the intention of US guardianship in Venezuela is confirmed. If there are negative effects for Brazil and in the social, geopolitical and economic fields, they will need to make a tactical retreat. Late, as they will have already placed themselves on the dark side of the force, which will be used against them in the campaign.

Excesses of all kinds, including rhetorical ones, led the group to repeated defeats. Evidence ignored by all who celebrate the thesis that the ends justify the means, but especially disastrous, and perhaps deadly, for those who sell moderation in the electoral market.
