Lieutenant Kuře from Once Upon a Time met a bitter end: Ivan Gübel († 46) did not live to see the premiere of the last part!

Ivan Gübel was born on August 19, 1952 in Prague into an artistic family. His father was the actor Ivo Gübel and his mother was the actress Marie Marešová, who outlived her son by four years. After studying at DAMU (Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts), he worked for many years at the JK Tyla Theater in Pilsen, and from 1989 he performed in several Prague theaters.

He first appeared in front of the camera in 1976 in a small role in the film Boots full of water. The world of film opened up to him only after he moved to Prague. He also got smaller and bigger roles in the series – Life in the Castle, Dobrodružstvo kriminilisticy or Chetnické humoresky.

But his best-known film role remains Lieutenant Kuře with “eleven fingers” in the crazy trilogy Once Upon a Time. However, Gübel did not live to see the premiere of the last part. He died on July 4, 1999 as a result of a heart attack. His heavy addiction to alcohol, which significantly shortened his life, had an adverse effect on his later artistic activity. Gübel is survived by two daughters he had with his first wife Michaela.
