(Reuters) – Meta announced on Tuesday that it has decided to suspend the international expansion of its Ray-Ban Display glasses due to low supply and strong demand for the product in the United States.
Facebook’s parent company planned to launch its Meta Ray-Ban Display augmented reality smart glasses in the UK, France, Italy and Canada from early this year, following the success seen with previous versions.
Meta said it will prioritize fulfilling orders in the U.S. while it reevaluates its approach to international availability, citing extremely limited inventory for what it described as a “first-of-its-kind product.”
“Since launching last fall, we have seen tremendous interest and as a result, product wait lists now extend into 2026,” the company said in a blog post.
Ray-Ban Meta glasses, developed in partnership with Ray-Ban by EssilorLuxottica, allow users to take photos, stream content and chat with an artificial intelligence assistant. The glasses giant announced in October that it would accelerate production capacity for its growing smart glasses business.
Meta also announced new features for the Meta Neural Band glasses and wrist device at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The social media giant is adding a teleprompter feature to the glasses, allowing consumers to read notes and scroll using the wristband. Meta is also expanding pedestrian navigation to four more cities, including Denver, Las Vegas, Portland and Salt Lake City, bringing the total to 32.
