Moraes denies transferring Bolsonaro to hospital – 01/06/2026 – Politics

The minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) denied this Tuesday (6) a request for the immediate removal of the former president () to a hospital after.

In his decision, the minister mentioned that the doctor found only minor injuries to the former president and did not identify the need to send him to a hospital, indicating only observation.

“Therefore, there is no need to immediately remove the person in custody to the hospital, as clearly stated in the note from the Federal Police. The defense, however, advised by the person in custody’s private doctor, has the right to carry out tests, as long as they are previously scheduled and with a specific indication and proven need”, said the minister in his decision.

He ordered that the PF medical report resulting from Bolsonaro’s care be attached and that the defense “indicate which tests it considers necessary to verify the possibility of being carried out in the penitentiary system.”

According to the former first lady, Bolsonaro suffered a fall while sleeping. “My love is not well. During the night, while he was sleeping, he had a crisis, fell and hit his head on the furniture,” Michelle said in a post.

“As the room remains closed, he only received assistance when they called him for my visit.”

In the documents, Bolsonaro’s lawyers stated that the former president “suffered a fall in his cell, with a head impact and suspected trauma, a situation that, given his recent clinical history, poses a concrete and immediate risk to his health.”

“Given the urgency and seriousness of the condition, it is necessary to immediately authorize the immediate removal of the patient to the hospital, to carry out the necessary clinical and imaging examinations, accompanied by his medical team and under police escort, in order to preserve his physical integrity and avoid irreversible worsening”, requested the defense.

Bolsonaro returned to the PF Superintendence on January 1st, after spending eight days in the hospital to treat a groin hernia and hiccups, both conditions resulting from a stab wound he received during the 2018 election campaign.

On the same date, Moraes defended the former president’s house arrest after discharge.

In his decision, the minister said that “unlike what was claimed by the defense, there was no worsening of Jair Messias Bolsonaro’s health situation, but rather, a clinical picture of improvement in the discomfort he was feeling after carrying out the elective surgeries, as pointed out in his own doctors’ report”.
