A 39-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son died last Saturday (4) after drowning in the pool of an inn in , . The victims were rescued, but ended up dying. The family that traveled was from São Paulo. According to a report from the woman’s partner to the Alagoas Civil Police, upon arriving in the room, they realized that there was a problem with the electric shower. While he went to talk to the inn’s management to resolve the problem, the woman and child went to the pool.
After noticing their absence, the man went to the pool and found the two submerged at the bottom of the pool. He said he had tried to perform resuscitation maneuvers with the help of other guests, without success, and that the two did not know how to swim well.
The Fire Department was called and sent the woman and boy to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA), but the deaths were confirmed. The identities were not revealed by authorities. According to the Legal Medical Institute (IML), the bodies were collected and procedures for necropsy, identification and release were carried out. The official cause of deaths will only be confirmed after expert examinations are completed. The Alagoas Civil Police is investigating the case.
