New price for bus and subway tickets in SP comes into effect today

Starting this Tuesday (6), bus fares in the capital of São Paulo will go from R$5.00 to R$5.30.

According to SPTrans, credits purchased by the end of Monday worth R$5.00 will be valid for 180 days.

The bus fare adjustment was announced by São Paulo City Hall, under the management of Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB).

Also this Tuesday, the fare for the metro rail system in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo — which includes the subway, CPTM trains and lines operated by ViaMobilidade — will be readjusted from R$5.20 to R$5.40.

The increase in the value of the metro rail fare is the responsibility of the state government, led by Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).

According to current legislation, the top-up limit is 200 fares for the Transport Voucher and 100 fares for the Bilhete Único Comum.

Information about balance, validity and usage rules can be found on each card’s official apps and channels.
