Trump on pro-Maduro protesters: "They are the ugliest people I have ever seen"

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has charged against the demonstrators who protested in New York over the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, gathered in front of the federal court in Brooklyn during the appearance of the Venezuelan leader.

It happened in a speech before Republican congressmen, where instead of informing, he dedicated himself to laughing at Macron, saying that Maduro imitated his dances, making fun of trans athletes and attacking Venezuelan protesters, among other issues.

During one of the moments of his intervention, he referred to those attending the protest with personal disqualifications, calling them “ugly”“. “These people are a disaster. Where do they find it? They are the ugliest people I have ever seen in my life. With those hats… they were all paid, they didn’t know what they were talking about when the journalists asked them…”, he stated.

Furthermore, the president has insisted that the people demanding Maduro’s release had been hired to demonstrate. According to him, he drew that conclusion from seeing that they had “perfect” signs and from listening to their responses to the press. For Trump, this lack of arguments showed that they did not really know the reason for the protest.

The statements came just one day after the clashes in New York between supporters and detractors of the former Venezuelan president, in an atmosphere of high tension after his arrest and subsequent transfer to the United States.

Trump has also defended the operation against Maduro, ensuring that it has international support. In his opinion, “Venezuelans and everyone” They celebrate the arrest, with the exception—as he said—of what happened in New York. In that context, he once again launched the occasional poisonous dart against the Chavista leader, stating that he had “a torture center in Caracas” and that he is responsible for numerous deaths.
