Researchers have examined a celestial body that undoubtedly deserves a top spot in the parade of strangest exoplanets ever discovered: huge clouds of soot drift through the atmosphere of the flattened gas planet PSR J2322-2650b and carbon is pressed into diamonds in its interior. Its composition is so extreme that experts still have no conclusive explanation as to how such an object could even come into being.
