In the last months of 2025, the delivery market in Brazil became more competitive. 99 Food entered the competition, which also includes iFood and Keeta, for consumer preference. Among the main strategies to attract them, high discount coupons and reduced rates. But even with the promise of “free delivery”, orders made through the app have been subject to a variable fee for delivery partners.
Called by 99 Food a “base service fee”, the item is one of those that make up the final price of an order, presented in the “fee details” section, when the customer intends to finalize the purchase.
While the delivery fee appears zero in the order description, the “service fee” can reach up to 5.6% of the total order, according to order documentation received by the InfoMoney and simulations carried out by the reporter.

Returning to Brazil after ceasing its operation in 2023, 99 Food has invested, in recent months, in an aggressive distribution strategy of discount coupons and benefits. The company joined Chinese company Keeta in competing for a market largely dominated by iFood in the region.
O InfoMoney asked 99 Food for details on the “base service fee”, but had no response until the article was published. In the app, you can see the following message: “This fee is charged to delivery partners”.

At the beginning of 2025, iFood started charging a service fee of R$0.99 (previously restricted to lower value purchases) on all its deliveries. The application claims to charge you for licensing the use of the platform and for contributing to operational costs, such as development, updating and support of the tool.

Keeta, who also charges, explains that it is an important fee to “deliver an increasingly better experience”.

The “delivery war” involved reducing fees for restaurants. Colombian Rappi, which never left the national market, was one of the companies to exempt partner fees for an indefinite period, after 99 exempted the payment of commission and monthly fees to registered restaurants for two years.
