Delcy Rodríguez takes office as interim president of Venezuela
7 days of national mourning were declared in Venezuela. Interim president assures: “There is no war here, we are not at war”.
A Venezuela is experiencing days of turmoil, mourning and also tributes.
This Tuesday, tribute was paid to the 24 soldiers that were dead last Saturday, the day of the US attack that led to the capture of Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
The Bolivarian National Armed Force paid tribute at the funerals of these militants. They highlighted the sacrifice of soldiers to defend the country.
“With hearts full of pride and eyes focused on our flag, the great military family pays the highest tribute to the soldiers who, with unwavering courage, made the supreme sacrifice in defense of our homeland,” shared the Venezuelan Armed Forces.
In addition to the military, there were dozens of Venezuelan civilians who died on Saturday. At least 80 dead.
In honor of the deceased, Venezuela decreed 7 days of mourning.
To interim president Delcy Rodriguez left a message for the “young martyrs who gave their lives in defense of our country”.
“I made the decision to declare seven days of mourning in honor and in glory to the young people, women and men who died, who gave their lives defending Venezuela and President Nicolás Maduro”, commented Delcy Rodríguez.
The interim president assured that there is no war in Venezuela: “There is no war here, because we are not at war. We are a peaceful people, and a country. That he was attacked.”
“We will all remain firm, standing, and above all working for our future and to defend our history and dignity”, assured the new leader of the South American country.
