Almost three decades later, iconic "Simpsons" character says goodbye to the series

One of the most iconic characters in “The Simpsons”known for her unmistakable look and famous expression “Oh yeah!”, was officially removed from the series after almost three decades.

If you are still part of those faithful viewers who continue to religiously follow the episodes of “The Simpsons”get ready to say goodbye to one of the longest-running characters in the animated series.

In the most recent episode, titled Separance” (Separationin Portuguese), from the 37th season, a parody of the famous series “Severance” from Apple TV+, the iconic character Barry Duffmanbetter known as Duffmantries to recruit Homer Simpson for a fictional company called Enthusiasm on Demand (EoD).

During the episode, Duffman reveals that already doesn’t work like fictional beer brand mascot or spokesperson Duff and appears without its usual “uniform”, which suggests that the character was officially removed from the series.

“A Duff Corporation has permanently removed this character.” and added that “all the old forms of advertising are now outdated. Corporate spokespeople, paper ads, television spots. Today’s kids can’t even sing the jingles”explains Duffman to the Simpsons family, made up of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie.

Duffman was part of the series since 1997

The character Duffman first appeared in the episode “The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson”from the 9th season, in 1997, as a way of satirize the marketing exaggerated and advertising. He is known for his athletic body, he refers to himself in the third person and his famous phrase is the expression “Oh yeah!”.

Duffman is easy to recognize by his “Duff” branded cap, wayfarer-style sunglasses, red cape, light blue overalls and belt full of Duff beer cans. The character’s voice was provided by the actor Hank Azaria.
