An agent of the Immigration Office fatally shot a woman: the Ministry is defending him!

A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot a woman on Wednesdaywhen she allegedly tried to ram her vehicle into officers conducting an intervention in the city of Minneapolis. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says the agent acted in self-defense and called the woman’s actions an act of domestic terrorism. It was reported by the AP agency, writes TASR.

DHS announced on Tuesday that in Minneapolis and in the neighboring city of St. Paul launched a large-scale crackdown on migrants. Approximately 2,000 agents participated in it. The shooting in Minneapolis took place during a protest by local residents, who clashed for several hours with the security forces carrying out the intervention. According to the media, their victim was a 37-year-old US citizen. According to DHS, the woman was hit with a firearm by one of the ICE agents because she allegedly tried to run them over.

“Fearing for his life, the lives of his law enforcement colleagues, and the safety of the public, the ICE officer fired defensive shots,” it is written in the statement of DHS, which also includes ICE. The shooting drew protesters to the streets near the scene, where some clashed with masked federal agents who fired chemical-filled ammunition at the protesters, according to Reuters. Protesters chanted “Shame” and “ICE, Get Out of Minnesota”AP wrote.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said that agent responsible for the woman’s death acted recklessly, rejecting claims that it was self-defense. According to him, ICE officers came to the city to cause chaos and cause mistrust.
