One day after announcing the end of canoeing activities, Olympic champion in the C-1 1000m in Tokyo, Japan, in 2020, and owner of four other Olympic medals, three silver and one bronze, took to social media to give a speech thanking him for the support he received at the club, where he arrived for the first time in 2011.

“Hail, hail the red and black fans, hail, hail all of Brazil. Guys, excuse my voice, I’m a little sick, with a cold, but I’m already back training here in Lagoa Santa (in greater Belo Horizonte). I’m actually passing by to say a special thank you to the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo for the opportunity to have been part of this incredible crowd, this incredible club”, the canoeist began his thank you video”, said the canoeist.

“I’m very happy to have left Bahia, the South of Bahia, a small town, Ubaitaba, in a sport that no one knew about and to have represented the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo in the national championship, in the World Cup, that was incredible for me”, he continued, thanking the entire board of directors, “I have always been well treated. To the athletes, to the rowing staff there, where I arrive and am well treated, I feel at home.”
