A 72-year-old man was involved in physical confrontations with another, 71, due to “old disagreements” and following a court hearing. The suspect, armed with a knife, ““he swung two blows to the victim’s thoracic and abdominal area“.

A 72-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of another, 71-year-old, in a caravan park where they temporarily lived in Albufeira, in the Algarve, the Judiciary Police revealed this Wednesday.

“The Judiciary Police (PJ), through the Southern Directorate, with the collaboration of the GNR of Albufeira, arrested a foreign citizen suspected of committing an attempted murder crime, which occurred on January 6th. [terça-feira]in the town of Albufeira”, the PJ said in a statement.

According to the police organization responsible for criminal investigation in Portugal, the victim, also of foreign nationality, and the attacker were involved in a physical confrontationinside the caravan park where they temporarily resided, “as a result of old disagreements and as a result of a trial hearing that took place at the Albufeira court on the morning of that day [terça-feira]involving both parties”.

The PJ states in the note that, during the confrontation, the detained suspect, equipped with a knife,” he said two blows to the victim’s thoracic and abdominal area“, which was then treated at Faro Hospital.

The detainee will now undergo a first judicial interrogation, to apply coercive measures, with the investigation into this case being led by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Albufeira.
