Sonia Moura, mother ofspoke out on social media after her daughter’s passport was located in in the last week. She questioned the discovery, stating that the facts do not appear to have occurred by chance and pointed out outstanding issues to be clarified.

“There are poorly explained facts, unanswered questions and a management that only increases the anguish of those who are already experiencing permanent grief. These gaps are not details – they weigh, hurt and scream for clarification”, he said in the publication that accompanies a photo of Eliza.

“My daughter is dead. And that is a sentence that no mother should repeat to herself every day. She carries a longing that tightens her chest, that suffocates, that never rests”, he declared.

According to Itamaraty, the passport, which is expired and cancelled, will be sent by the Consulate General of Brazil in Lisbon to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Brasília. So far, the circumstances under which the document was found have not been detailed.

Eliza was murdered at the age of 25, in 2010. Eight people were convicted of the crime, but, to this day, the model’s body has not been found. The main suspicion, based on witness reports, is that the body was dismembered and buried under a layer of concrete.

Former goalkeeper Bruno, with whom the model had a relationship, was sentenced in 2013 to 22 years and three months in prison for the crimes of homicide, concealment of a corpse, kidnapping and false imprisonment. The couple had a son whose paternity was not recognized by the former athlete at the time.

In January 2023, Bruno was released on parole, after the sentence was upgraded to the semi-open regime in 2018.
