Lawyers claim that the former president’s private doctor assesses that the clinical condition after a fall in the early hours of the morning is compatible with head trauma
After (PL) suffered a fall in the early hours of this Tuesday (Jan 6, 2026) in the cell of the Federal Police Superintendence, the former president’s defense asked Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), to authorize further medical examinations.
The lawyers claim that Bolsonaro’s personal doctor, Brasil Ramos Caiado, assesses that the clinical picture is compatible with head trauma, nocturnal syncope associated with the fall, possible convulsive crisis, memory fluctuation and blunt head injury. Read the medical report (PDF – 250 kB).
In a petition, the lawyers state that Bolsonaro needs to undergo the following examinations:
- Skull Computed Tomography;
- Skull Magnetic Resonance Imaging;
- Electroencephalogram.
“Such exams are essential for an adequate neurological assessment of the Petitioner, and are recommended to be carried out in a specialized hospital environment – at DF Star Hospital, where the Patient has been clinically monitored”say the lawyers.

The former president in the early hours of this Tuesday (January 6, 2026), inside the cell where he is serving his sentence at the Federal Police Superintendence. The information was released by former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro on social media. According to her, the former president “he had a crisis, fell and hit his head on the furniture”.
The PF released a note about what happened, that medical care was requested by Bolsonaro himself after “report to the team on duty that you had suffered a fall during the early hours of the morning”. The police also stated that they found “minor injuries” and that there was no “need for hospital referral”. Read the (PDF – 284 kB).
Initially, the PF had the departure of the former president “after request from your personal doctor”. After, his note at 1:30 pm and informed that this would depend on authorization from the STF.
Still according to Michelle, Bolsonaro. “My visit was scheduled for 9am, but I was only able to enter at 10am, as Jair was receiving first aid. Considering this time – which already occurred an hour after the scheduled start of the visit -, approximately 6 hours and 36 minutes have passed since the incident, without him having been able to carry out the necessary tests to check whether there was any trauma or possible neurological damage.”published on social media.
Bolsonaro has been in a special room at the PF Superintendence in Brasília since November 22nd. The former president is serving a sentence of 27 years and 3 months in prison after being convicted by the STF of an attempted coup d’état.
