Hacktivist Martha Root took down (live) dating sites for “pure breed” people

Martha Root just turned off supremacist dating sites during 39C3

Dressed as the Pink Power Ranger, the German hacktivist known as Martha Root executed, live and live during a conference, a script that deleted several dating sites for white supremacists — as well as their email accounts. An embarrassment to the “superior race”.

Most conferences tend not to be particularly exciting, at least to outsiders. But in Hamburg, Germany, the 39th edition of the Chaos Communication Congress () featured a session truly unusual.

At a certain point, a speakerdressed in the eye-catching pink stretchy Pink Power Ranger costume, took the stage, but didn’t give a PowerPoint presentation. Instead, shut down some siteslive and live.

Era Martha Root. Their targets were WhiteDate, WhiteChild and WhiteDeal, social platforms used by far-right white supremacists.

With just a few commands, the German hacktivist ran a script live — and websites disappeared from the internet. The servers were deleted and even the backups disappearedtells .

The moment in which the script makes websites, their social networks and email accounts disappear, can be seen in one of the Chaos Communication Club. In fact, the command lines appear to be just for “show” — the actual script that deleted the sites will have been running in the background.

O WhiteDatethe largest of the three, had close to 8,000 members, who registered in search of potential “racially pure” partners“For months, Martha infiltrated these platforms with chatbots extremely realistic.

With a mix of automatic conversation analysis and web scrapingos bots were convincing enough to deceive the “pure” white community.

These bots, which were made impersonate real usersthey even became “verified” as white by the site administrators themselves. The verification process, promoted as a rigorous genetic and ideological filter, was surpassed by an LLM that reproduced racist clichés.

“WhiteDate is a white supremacist platform that serves racists and anti-Semites, and is based on obsolete infrastructure. What its 8,000 members didn’t know: some of the Nazis multi-frame this year with credible-looking chat bots — and even fell in love with them”, reads the summary of the presentation.

For years, supremacist groups have cultivated an image as a sophisticated organization. They brag about use encrypted applications, decentralized networks and forums on the dark web. However, within seconds, Martha Root’s presentation destroyed this illusion of competence with embarrassing ease.

In a report on their “operation”, presented during the conference, Martha Root and journalists Eva Hoffmann e Christian Fuchsreport that security on these platforms was practically non-existent. The “superior race” managed its operations in platforms so outdated that would make any systems administrator from the 2000s blush with shame.

As expected, those responsible for the websites were not satisfied.

In one on X, the WhiteDate administrator classified the site’s crash as “cyberterrorism” and threatened “retaliation”. In another publication, he even stated that Root also deleted WhiteDate’s account on X, but that it was recovered, leaving a direct “thank you” to Elon Musk.

Before shutting down the sites, Root and the journalists copied the WhiteDate database, preserving account information. The information collected outlines a heartbreaking portrait of the neo-Nazi movement contemporary.

After all, dating platforms were a real men’s festival: around 85% of users were men. “This is a gender ratio that makes the Estrumpfes village looks like a feminist utopia,” Root joked during the performance.

These platforms present themselves as essential tools to preserve the “white lineage“, promising lonely men traditional wives and large families, but that never lived up to reality. The users were essentially a group of radicalized men screaming into the void, says Root.

But one question never stops tormenting us. Could it be that among the WhiteDate users there will be… White Power Ranger?
