London – The recall of baby formula by the food company Nestlé is expanding beyond Europe to Africa, America and Asia. At least 37 countries are affected, including Brazil, China and South Africa, according to information from Nestlé and national food authorities on Wednesday. Certain batches of the products SMA, Beba, NAN and Alfamino are affected. The reason is possible contamination with cereulide, a toxin that can cause nausea and vomiting. There are currently no confirmed cases of illness in connection with the batches.
