The Public Security Sector sent a letter to the party president, in which it suggested that he nominate Lula three names of PT members to command the Ministry of Public Security, after the president.
The letter, dated this Tuesday (6), is signed by Abdael Ambruster, national coordinator of the PT’s Public Security Sector. The names suggested are that of the former Minister of Justice and former governor of Rio Grande do Sul, that of the federal deputy and police chief and that of, former SP Police Ombudsman and secretary of several PT City Halls.
In the document, he states that the right and the extreme right have appropriated the public security agenda. “Today, the extreme right, led by , gave ideological meaning, mobilized significant segments of police corporations, proposed arming the population”, he indicates.
The text proposes that the federal government mobilize to “implement a national pact capable of reducing violence, confronting organized crime and enabling citizen security.”
The letter continues and highlights that the issue of public security will be one of the main issues in the electoral dispute.
The sector defends the creation of the department as a way of materializing the guidelines set out in and new national programs to combat criminal factions and common crime.
It also argues that public security should be based on police intelligence, prevention and qualified repression to “stifle criminal factions, including militias”.
