The actor Tarcísio Filho61, revealed that he was responsible for telling his mother, Gloria Menezes91, about the death of his father, Tarcísio Meira85. A veteran of the small screen, the artist died in August 2021, a victim of Covid-19. At the time, the actress, to whom he was married for almost six decades, was also hospitalized with the same diagnosis.
“She had Covid, she was hospitalized. They both got it at the same time. As soon as they entered the hospital, it was that thing [restrita]. I could see my mother because I curled up so I could see her. It looked like a space suit to be with her and break the news,” he said during Sem Censura, on TV Brasil, on Tuesday (6).
Afterwards, Tarcísio continued: “She received it from me, but from a guy dressed as an astronaut, with a mask, with a huge glass helmet, all wrapped up, because it was the procedure at the time. But how do you give news like that? You just give it. There’s no way to modulate something like that. It was very difficult, but we have to deal with it. We have to deal with it. We can’t deny it, it’s part of life”, he added.
The actor also said that what softened it was the strength and energy that the country gave to the family. “What helped a lot was this large Brazilian family and at a time, let’s not forget, we were at a level of intolerability [política] absolute with each other, so seeing people come together around that moved me a lot.”
