The Republican billionaire has assumed that administrative power and assured that Rodríguez “cooperate” for this purpose. Rodríguez wanted to give a sample at least on the internal front and announce his first measure: the installation of the agri-food General Staff, headed by the new vice president of economy, Calixto Ortega.
“We are here governing alongside the people; “The Government of Venezuela rules our country,” said Rodríguez. “Personally, those who threaten me, I say it: my destiny is not decided but by God,” he added in a clear response to Trump who predicted a “worse” fate than Maduro’s if he did not collaborate with Washington.
According to the “president in charge”, the Venezuelan people “is active in the streets” and proof of this is the march that women supporters of the Government carried out this Tuesday to ask for the freedom of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. “We have grown in strength, we have grown spiritually to face challenges, aggressions, threats.” Regarding Saturday’s attack, he noted: “it has been a violation and breach of international legality.”
Rodríguez, who was sworn in on Monday before the National Assembly (AN), led by his brother Jorge, recognized that the South American country is going through a “painful path” due to “aggression” of a “colonial” type. And he stressed: “this town does not give up, it is a town that does not surrender.” She also assured that she had sworn into office “with pain, but also with honor, the honor that being Venezuelan gives me, to represent the interest of this nation.”
Seven days of mourning
His second measure this Tuesday was to decree seven days of national mourning in tribute to the military and civilians who died during the US attack. “I will not rest until our country is consolidated on a path of peace,” he said and recalled that in his country “there is a constitutional government” and the one who governs “is the people.”
Oil control
Last Monday, Trump assured that the secretaries of State and War, Marco Rubio and Pete Hegseth, respectively, and the advisor on security and migration issues Stephen Miller would be in charge of coordinating the political transition in Venezuela. Rodríguez was then relegated to the role of “cooperator.” In turn, the magnate warned of the possibility of a second attack if Washington’s purposes are not followed. Trump also demanded that Rodríguez “total access” to Venezuelan natural resources.
