“The oil will be sold at market price, and the money will be controlled by me and used for the benefit of the Venezuelan people and the United States”, added the Republican, informing that he asked the Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, to implement the plan immediately. “The oil will be transported by tankers and taken directly to discharge ports in the United States. Thank you for your attention on this.”, he concluded.

The US action against Venezuela killed at least 55 people, including Venezuelans and Cubans. The announcement comes hours after Reuters reported that authorities from Venezuela and the United States are discussing the export of Venezuelan crude oil to the Americans.
Since December, Venezuela has accumulated millions of barrels of oil in ships and storage tanks, unable to export them because of a blockade imposed by Trump. The embargo was part of American pressure on the country that resulted in Maduro’s downfall. Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world – estimated at around 303 billion barrels –, however, it only produces just 1 million barrels per day due to sanctions imposed by the USA and infrastructure problems.
