White House: US is selectively lifting sanctions on Venezuela

The United States is selectively lifting sanctions on Venezuela following the capture of dictator Nicolás Maduro, according to the White House.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt explained that this is to allow the transport and sale of Venezuelan crude oil and derivatives on global markets.

Still, she did not provide further details on exactly which sanctions are being lifted or further details on the matter.

Trump announces sale of Venezuelan oil

On Tuesday (6), President Donald Trump announced that the United States for Venezuela’s interim authorities.

“The oil will be discharged in the United States,” Trump wrote on his social network, Truth Social.
