Woman dies in confrontation with ICE

According to the US Department of Homeland Security, protesters tried to block the agents’ action when the shooting victim tried to run over members of ICE.

A woman died this Wednesday (7) after clashing with agents from the United States Immigration and Customs Service in Minneapolis, Minnesota. According to the US Department of Homeland Security, protesters tried to block the agents’ action, and the woman tried to run over members of ICE, in an act of “domestic terrorism”. An agent then shot at the vehicle and hit the woman, who died. According to the agency, officers were injured.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said in a statement that her office is already aware of the attack and will diligently investigate the case. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has demanded that ICE agents leave the city, and that they stand firmly on the side of their immigrant and refugee communities.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said the Department of Public Safety is working to uncover more information about the shooting.

The city of Minneapolis was marked in 2020 after a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, killed a black man, George Floyd, by strangling him with his knee. The police officer’s justification was that George. Chauvin was fired by the Minneapolis Police Department and sentenced to 22 years and six months in prison in 2021.
