Anthropic plans billion-dollar fundraising that could value startup at US$350 billion

Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is planning a multibillion-dollar fundraising that will value chatbot creator Claude at $350 billion, two sources told Reuters this Wednesday (7).

This represents almost double the company’s market value compared to about four months ago.

The company plans to raise US$10 billion in a financing round led by Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and Coatue Management, the company reported. Wall Street Journal earlier.

The round could be completed within weeks, although the size and terms could change, the paper said.

Anthropic, which is backed by Google and Amazon.com, declined to comment.

The company announced at the beginning of last September that it raised US$1.3 billion in a round that valued the company at US$183 billion.

The company hired the law firm Wilson Sonsini to prepare for an initial public offering of shares that could occur as early as 2026, published the Financial Times at the beginning of last month.

Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic created Claude AI models, which have been well received by software developers, especially for coding tasks.
