Former president Jair Bolsonaro returned to prison this Wednesday after undergoing a series of tests at a hospital in Brasília following a fall the day before, his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, said.
The tests, which included tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, identified a mild head trauma, his doctor, Brasil Caiado, told reporters. However, the doctor highlighted that there is no cause for concern, as no intracranial injury was detected.
“We observed an injury to the soft tissues of the right temporal region and the right frontal region, characterizing a mild head trauma, but there was no intracranial injury,” he stated.

According to Caiado, doctors suspect that Bolsonaro — who is serving a 27-year sentence for plotting a coup d’état — may be experiencing dizziness and imbalances related to the medications he uses to treat hiccups. He reinforced that new assessments will be carried out in the coming days.
Michelle Bolsonaro criticized the delay in assisting her husband and said that they will file a request for house arrest again. “We are going to reinforce (the request for house arrest) because there is no justification for him to be in prison”, he highlighted.
Federal Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes authorized Bolsonaro to leave prison to carry out exams after the fall and the impact on his head, according to a court decision released this Wednesday morning.
On Tuesday, Moraes had denied a previous request for Bolsonaro to be taken to the hospital, arguing that there was no immediate need and asking the defense to point out what tests would be carried out according to his doctors.
Bolsonaro underwent a series of medical procedures in December to treat a hernia and hiccups. The former president was stabbed in the abdomen during a campaign event in 2018 and has a history of hospitalizations and surgeries related to the attack.
