The senator, president of and one of the main enthusiasts of the (Republican) presidential project, ruled out the governor’s chances of running against Lula (PT) this year.
“I see Tarcísio’s candidacy for the Presidency as already discarded,” the senator told Sheetalso evaluating the candidacy of senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), who received the nomination from Jair Bolsonaro (PL), as irreversible.
Last week, the PP reported that it was evaluating the possibility of launching its own candidacy for state government in this year’s elections.
In the letter, prepared by the president of the state directory, federal deputy Maurício Neves, with the endorsement of Ciro Nogueira, the party cited “growing dissatisfaction among mayors” of the party with Tarcísio, in addition to “recurrent complaints about the lack of attention to parliamentarians”, when justifying the reason for leaving the alliance with the governor.
The text also criticized Tarcísio’s supposed lack of support for his then Secretary of Public Security, the federal deputy (PP-SP), who left the department at the beginning of December to prepare his candidacy for the .
“The party, which has former Secretary of Public Security Guilherme Derrite as a pre-candidate for the Senate, also assesses the governor’s public and concrete support for his majority project as insufficient,” stated the text.
HAS Sheet the senator highlighted that he prefers to be with Tarcísio in the state dispute in October, but stated that his party is looking for more space in a new government. “There is discontent. But I think he [Tarcísio] is the best way to make Derrite’s campaign viable”, said the former minister of Bolsonaro’s Civil House.
Ciro Nogueira had suggested, at the beginning of December, shortly after Flávio announced his candidacy, that he defended names like Tarcísio. Now, he said that the governor would have to obtain approval from the former president to remain in the race, which he considered unlikely. Furthermore, the governor has reinforced the actions that .
Tarcísio is on vacation in the United States and will return to work next week. He was already out of the country when the PP released the letter with criticism.
The governor, three days after the senator announced that he had received his father’s nomination. Tarcísio told allies that the nomination did not surprise him, but his Bolsonaro base criticized, behind the scenes, the assessment that the support had been given without enthusiasm.
However, those around Tarcísio in São Paulo began to assess, in the following days, that the governor has not moved to remove the senator from the candidacy. Allies of the governor, including in sectors of the São Paulo PL, also report that they have expectations that Flávio will give up running and free up space for the governor.
The letter released by the PP last week had been minimized by one of Tarcísio’s main assistants at Palácio dos Bandeirantes and generated internal noise within the party. Under reservation, the assistant highlighted that the PP is part of a federation with União Brasil and that, in São Paulo, the group is in charge of União.
The president of the São Paulo directory of União Brasil, Milton Leite, stated that the possible disembarkation of the PP from Tarcísio’s alliance was not discussed. “This topic was not discussed in the federation, which will continue alongside Tarcísio”, said the former councilor from São Paulo.
Derrite himself, mentioned in his party’s message, reiterated his support for the governor. In a note sent to Sheetalthough he said that he “fully respects the party’s decisions and instances”, he treated the matter as “speculation about the party’s position in the next elections”.
“On a personal and political level, the deputy reaffirms his position of loyalty to the current governor’s project and makes it clear that he would not act in the opposite direction nor would he support another candidacy for re-election as long as this relationship built in the exercise of public management continues”, says the note sent by Derrite’s office.
This Tuesday (6), during an interview with Bolsonaro influencer Paulo Figueiredo, Flávio said that his relationship with Ciro Nogueira is “very good”. “I truly believe that they will come to our platform, I don’t know if sooner or later,” he said.
He also said that his group cannot give up the election for the Government of São Paulo. “We don’t risk contesting an election for the Government of São Paulo without Tarcísio. In other words, Tarcísio candidate for re-election in the Government of São Paulo. It’s an important platform. He won’t lose this election there under any circumstances”, he said.
